What we do: outcome 5
Climate Services strengthened and information made available to support risk management due to the extreme phases of climate variability and climate change adaptation. This component includes the strengthening of both the Regional Climate Center for Western South America (CRC-OSA) and the local climate services in the Chinchiná and Mantaro Basins.
Two main actions are being carried out to achieve this outcome:
- · Design and implement a Positioning Plan for both local climate services: IDEAM in Chinchiná and SENAMHI in Junín; to improve technical training of local climate services’ personnel; and to support local institutions related to risk management and climate change adaptation in Chinchina and Mantaro.
- · Strengthening the technical and operational capacities of the Regional Climate Center for Western South America (CRC-OSA) for processing, analysis, delivery and storage of data and information (especially related to hydro-climate threats, vulnerability, risks and adaptation) and for providing information to climate services in the region.
